The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for a Political and Legislative Manager for its Federal Affairs Department located in Washington, D.C. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for managing activities related to political mobilization and federal lobbying activities, as well as the ACC Political Action Committee (PAC). The position works with the PAC Chairman, the Vice President, Federal Affairs and members of the Federal Affairs team to administer the PAC and the PAC contribution process, as well as participates in advocacy activities in support of federal government affairs priorities on Capitol Hill. The position is responsible for managing campaign communications amongst ACC member companies and the internal ACC Federal Affairs team, and reports directly to the Vice President, Federal Affairs.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years’ professional experience; experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects and strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to interact with internal and external contacts. Graduate degree, experience working in political fundraising, a congressional office or association federal government relations as well as knowledge of Capitol Hill, the legislative process, current U.S. political dynamics, and/or federal election laws preferred.
