Director, Meetings Center

National association has an immediate opening for an experienced Meetings Director. The Director will develop a business plan to expand the scope of the annual meeting including course content, education delivery, marketing and promotion designed to increase member and exhibitor attendance, enhance the experience of attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors, and grow revenue. Successful candidate plans, organizes, promotes and supervises all the Association’s meetings and conferences as needed. The Director supervises all aspects of the Meetings Center functions, and communicates regularly with the Senior Management Team and the Meetings Center Executive Committee in this highly visible position.

Position holder must have at least ten years demonstrated leadership experience in growing, marketing, planning, and managing conferences of 7,000 to 10,000 attendees. Successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of continuing education for professionals and a complete understanding of all technical aspects of planning meetings and large expositions including the ability to write and review contracts. Creative design and marketing skills are also required. Position holder must be able to travel to approximately ten meetings and site inspections per year. Professional meeting certification such as Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified in Exposition Management (CEM) and Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) are preferred. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
