A small boutique government relations firm in Fairfax seeks an individual to work as a member of its team with occasional work in Washington, DC. The Legislative Assistant will be responsible for tracking legislation, conducting research on specific legislative and policy issues, maintaining and updating websites with WordPress, maintaining databases on Hill contacts, coordinating and participating in coalition activities, contributing to the editing process of organizational material, maintaining the firm’s files, and otherwise providing administrative support to the staff. The applicant will also plan, organize and attend two meetings in Washington each year.
Requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and strong organizational, analytical, writing, research, and speaking skills. Legal, legislative, or other policy experience and experience working with coalitions are preferred. Applicants must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team, and in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
