Senior Associate, Communications

SIFMA seeks a Washington, D.C.-based Senior Associate with strong project management skills and a background in advancing events to join the Communications team. The position will be responsible for initiatives that connect the work of the finance industry to the general population. The successful candidate should demonstrate a detailed knowledge of social media.
•Work closely with the Executive Vice President and Vice President of Communications to plan and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy;
•Advance events to leverage local media opportunities;
•Help develop, implement and coordinate plans for sustaining and improving the SIFMA brand as well as the industry’s image.
•At least three years of experience; Hill and political campaign experience is a plus;
•Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university;
•Some knowledge of the issues impacting the financial services industry is desirable;
•Able to consistently and effectively communicate SIFMA’s messages on several topics through a variety of communications vehicles, including social media;
•Experience with, as well as the maturity and responsibility to, work with executives, lawyers, and company decision makers;
•An outgoing, team-oriented personality and be able to build relationships with SIFMA staff and members;
•Experience in project and event management;
•Have a lot of energy and the ability to be proactive; a ‘get it done’ type attitude;
•Have a flexible work schedule. This position requires extensive travel.
