Regional Outreach Director for Veterans – Southwest

Summary: The Regional Outreach Director will work to promote pro-Israel advocacy among Veteran leaders in AIPAC’s Southwest Region, which includes Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and New Mexico. This position is part of AIPAC’s National Outreach Program, which promotes pro-Israel activism and education among leaders of the African American, Hispanic, Religiously-Motivated Pro-Israel Christian, Veteran and Progressive communities. The Regional Outreach Director will report to the Regional Political Director in Houston, TX, and work closely with the National Outreach Director in Washington, D.C.

Essential Functions:

•Building relationships with key political, religious and community leaders within Veteran communities in the Southwest Region, educating them about the US-Israel relationship and encouraging their involvement in pro-Israel activism and politics.
•Recruiting participants for AIEF Education Seminars in Israel and regional and national AIPAC events.
•Maintaining and expanding relationships with Israel trip participants.
•Planning and implementing meetings, speaking events, conferences and other events.
•Assisting with mobilizations on important legislative campaigns.
•Analyzing local political trends.
•Working closely and cooperatively with AIPAC’s staff (regional and national) and lay leaders.
•Assisting in educational meetings with candidates for federal office.
•Traveling within the region frequently and to Washington, DC as needed. Traveling occasionally to Israel with local leaders and contacts.
•Performing other activities as assigned by the Regional Director or National Outreach Director.

Qualifications:

•An abiding and demonstrated passion to advance the US-Israel relationship.
•A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience working with veteran communities.
•Team-oriented personality with can-do attitude.
•Superior organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
•Highly intelligent with strong academic background.
•Comfortable speaking in public and strong communication (oral and written) skills.
•Ability to travel regularly.
•Well-developed political skills, including political experience in Congress, in a state legislature or local government, on political campaigns, and/or equivalent activities, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully.
