Summary: The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) seeks a Regional Outreach Director to promote pro-Israel education and activism among progressive leaders in AIPAC’s New England Region, which includes Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut. The Regional Outreach Director will report to the Regional Political Director in Boston and work closely with the National Outreach Director in Washington, DC. The National Outreach Program promotes pro-Israel activism and education among leaders of various constituencies, including Progressives, African Americans, Hispanics and Religiously-Motivated Pro-Israel Christians.
·Building relationships with key progressive political, religious and community leaders in the New England Region, educating them about the US-Israel relationship and encouraging their involvement in pro-Israel activism and politics.
·Recruiting participants for regional and national AIPAC events and for AIEF educational seminars in Israel.
·Maintaining and expanding relationships with Israel trip participants.
·Promoting pro-Israel political activism.
·Analyzing local political trends, performing necessary research and preparing background materials and documents.
·Working closely and collaboratively with lay leaders and with staff in both the Boston office and Washington, DC, including the New England Regional Director and National Outreach Director.
·Planning and implementing meetings, events and conferences.
·Mobilizing on important legislative campaigns.
·Participating in educational meetings with candidates for federal office.
·Soliciting investment in AIPAC’s annual campaign.
·Traveling within the region frequently and to Washington, DC as needed. Traveling occasionally to Israel with local leaders and contacts.
·Bachelor’s or advanced degree strongly desired, or commensurate experience.
·A demonstrated commitment to advance the US-Israel relationship.
·A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience working with progressive leaders and groups, such as organized labor, the LGBT community, women’s advocacy groups and environmentalists.
·Superior organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
·Team-oriented personality with can-do attitude.
·Strong speaking, writing and research skills.
·Fundraising and solicitation experience, preferably with an annual campaign.
·Ability to travel regularly.
·Well-developed political skills, including at least 5 years political experience in Congress, in a state legislature or local government, on political campaigns, and/or equivalent activities, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully.
