LexisNexis is recruiting for Legislative Screener positions for our State Net Product. Currently we are seeking bright individuals to learn to categorize pending legislation and regulations from the 50 states. We offer a friendly environment, and provide training. Legislative Screeners are responsible for the review and categorization of state legislation and regulations in a variety of subject areas. Ideal candidates will have a broad understanding of current affairs and can apply that knowledge to the reading, understanding and categorizing of legislation and regulations on both the state and federal level.
Successful candidates need to have developed excellent reading comprehension skills with a strong ability to interpret complex and often confusing legislative and regulatory documents. And, have an in depth knowledge of current affairs and how that translates into public policy. Candidates with political science, public policy, library science degrees or legislative tracking experience are encouraged to apply.
These positions are contract position that begin in December and early January and run through March. Compensation is $12 per hour 40 hours per week. Applicants must pass an aptitude test and then submit to a background check that reviews the past 10 years. Worksites located in our Washington DC location at the Union Station Metro Station. No parking is provided for these positions, use of public transportation is strongly recommended.
