Grassroots & Outreach Programs Coordinator

The Nuclear Energy Institute is currently seeking a Grassroots and Outreach Programs Coordinator to provide professional and responsive assistance to the grassroots and legislative outreach programs.

This position will manage, expand and maintain NEI’s grassroots management software and program, along with support for message development and administration. This position will also provide outreach contact to selected non-elected organizations to develop support for NEI’s agenda, i.e. American Nuclear Society, Nuclear Advocacy Network, etc. He or she will assist in preparing and managing outreach materials and programming to major conferences and organizations, such as the National Conference of State Legislatures. This educational and outreach material will be compiled with various audiences in mind to initiate and engage in public and private sector advocacy opportunities. He or she will also develop systematic, regular communication to “beyond the Beltway” political entities to lay groundwork for more active and frequent political support from those entities. This may include communication with state legislators and governors and their staffs, in coordination with the State Outreach Team.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with some government-related coursework. In addition to educational requirements, the incumbent must have at least two years of experience in coordinating activities and meetings with industry representatives and government officials, as well as two years or more of experience in maintaining filing systems for legislative programs; three or more years of office experience is required. The incumbent must possess strong written and communication skills along with a general knowledge of federal and state government legislative and policy-making processes. He/she must have the ability to think and act independently, and to anticipate workload fluctuations and set workload priorities to accommodate simultaneous multiple complex tasks.
